James To Train For Luca Cumani

A striking daughter of Road To Rock is now in the ownership of a star international horseman.

The Newmarket-based trainer Luca Cumani took in the sights at Karaka this week and bloodstock agent Phill Cataldo ended up buying him a filly by the Wellfield Lodge stallion.

With his wife Sara, he purchased the Road To Rock out of Baradevi for $60,000 with the yearling’s pedigree featuring the Habitat mare Brocade, the dam of the Cumani-trained Breeders’ Cup Mile and Irish Two Thousand Guineas winner Barathea.

They were given a list of about six yearlings to look at and were immediately drawn to the Road To Rock filly, given the connection with Barathea.

The Cumani’s liked the look of this filly and managed to secure her with the help of Phill Cataldo.

Cambridge horseman Roger James will train the filly, who may make her way back to the Cumani’s Fittocks Stud property in Newmarket at some stage in the future.
