Zonza Gives Stable Cup Boost

Roger James’ confidence levels leading into Saturday’s Gr.1 Caulfield Cup were boosted on Wednesday with a Group Three victory from Zonza.

Silent Achiever’s stablemate struck an early blow for the Cambridge trainer when she posted a dominant win in the Snowhite Classic. “She’s got the job done, a bit differently than the past, but that’s why you put top riders on,” James said.

Damian Oliver pressed Zonza forward from a wide gate and after taking control early in the run home she held a strong gallop to win comfortably. “I love a jockey that can make a decision,” James said. “The Matriarch Stakes is a definite possibility, there are an array of options now.”
