Cambridge apprentice Lee Magorrian rode his first winner today at just his 8th raceday ride aboard the Ross McCarroll prepared Royal Sceptre at Ruakaka.
The Irish-born 18-year-old is just the fourth apprentice indentured to trainer Roger James, who holds him in high regard.
"Lee is a very conscientious lad and is totally focussed on his career," said James. "His horsemanship skills are very good as well, and as he gains in experience I can see him doing very well."
